- What struck me was McCain's comment about "letting families and their doctors make the decisions about their healthcare". What health care does he have, and can I get some? Most people I know, no matter their insurance company, will tell you that the have NO say in their care.

edj, I did not say that an early fetus is not alive--I said it is not a person. Do most women who suffer early miscarriages name their fetuses or conduct ceremonial funeral rites? Does a 1 or 2 month old fetus have feelings, thought or even sentience? Do most people oppose in vitro fertilization, which produces unwanted embryos that will be destroyed or frozen? Don't about 80% of Americans support abortion in some cases, if only rape or incest?

A fetus is alive but not a person, which is what the Supreme Court stated in Roe v. Wade. This is entirely consistent with Western thought and philosophy.
